Gwaii Haanas - Raising a Totem Pole

Today we learned about the people of the Pacific Coast and the importance of their environment to their culture. Over the years, many of the traditions were made illegal by the Canadian government. In recent times, however, the First Nations people have begun to reclaim these traditions and rebuild their culture. Watch as they raise one of the first totem poles in over 130 years.
